When discussing photography as art, I don’t feel particularly defensive. Pictures like this can happen in a moment, but in that case you still need the equipment to seize the moment and share it later. When it involves waking up before dawn and being ready to take a picture of a dramatic tree and set the rising glow behind it, there is some conscious creativity and planning involved.
